MY FREEDOM – MY INDEPENDENCE

you left me behind closed doors

neglecting the voice of pain that crawled through the walls

you kept my hands tied to my legs

freedom was not an option, my option was to dry my eyes after every cry

dreaming of swaying my hands in the sky marching in the freedom of independence again

I was beaten mentally, they tried to erase the ego of who i am, what my name is…

they tried to take away my Africanity…

the four corners of a dark, creepy, scary room was i caved in, my heart feared and fear was an enemy of the black man

bravery, is our hallmark but yet they ignored the ego of who we are…

who was there that cared, who was there that cared for the freedom of the black men caved in the four-cornered dark creepy scary room, who was there that had affection for my freedom

Osaagyifo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah stood for my right, my freedom, my independence, my ego… he stood for my birth-right, my Africanity

In 1957, I was set free before i was born,i gained independence as a seed in my father loins

Today Ghana, my home of birth, my motherland, my birth right is 58 years and i stand proud with my head held up high  with the voice of my fellow Ghanian’s to quote the words of our father, Osaagyifo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah saying ‘Ghana, my beloved country is free forever….!

I am free forever

I have a name, my name is AMA GHANA

I have an ego

I have a voice

independence, my right as an African…..

      1. I am actually Sonni. Jamie is the man I write about who is currently at Huntsville prison, sitting in solitary confinement for the 3rd time in 9 years. That is why I write. He is the father of one of my grandsons.

      2. sometimes it is so hard to keep up with comments. I thought I was caught up and then found a few i hadn’t answered. I didn’t want you to think i was ignoring you. I very much appreciate your concern for him. I am sending him some of the replies I’ve gotten so he can answer them personally
